UNDANGAN INVITATION (scroll down for English) Pameran Projek Fotografi "FROZEN CITY" oleh Edwin "Dolly" Roseno Pembukaan Rabu, 10 Juni 2009, jam 19:30 WIB Di Ruang Pamer KKF Pameran Berlangsung sejak 10 Juni 4 Juli 2009 Di Ruang Pamer KKF Buka setiap hari, dari jam 11:00 21:00 (Kecuali Selasa, KKF libur) Photography Project Exhibition "FROZEN CITY" - Edwin "Dolly" Roseno Opening Wednesday, 10 June 2009, 7:30 p.m. At KKF Gallery Exhibition 10 June 4 July 2009 At KKF Gallery Open everyday from 11 a.m. 9 p.m. (Except on Tuesday, KKF is off) artist's statement Persoalan dalam hal ini menjadi persoalan pribadi sejak saya memutuskan untuk tinggal di kota ini yaitu tentang relasi, aktifitas, mobilitas, ikon, gaya hidup dan tentu saja hal hal yang menarik dalam sudut pandang mata saya, karena proyek proyek seni yang saya kerjakan hampir selalu berhubungan dengan keberadaan dan keterikatan saya terhadap kota ini. Proyek fotografi ini tidak sepenuhnya menggambarkan perkembangan Yogyakarta secara detail, hanya fragmen fragmen pendek ketika saya melihat ada sesuatu yang memotifasi saya untuk menghentikan sepersekian detik kecepatan gerak, ritme dan rutinitas Yogyakarta sebagai kota yang selalu berkembang dengan medium yang selama ini saya tekuni dan seriusi. (Edwin "Dolly" Roseno Kurniawan) Frozen City Ketika kecil Apakah Dolly (Edwin Roseno, 29 th) memilih untuk menamai pameran tunggalnya di Kedai Kebun dengan Bisa jadi Perubahan itu terjadi cepat, mungkin hanya dalam hitungan beberapa tahun. Daerah senyap tiba-tiba jadi riuh rendah. Tapi ada yang ternyata tak berubah. Foto serie Dolly tentang coca cola (Beyond Coca Cola, 2006) menyiratkan itu. Seonggok warung minuman bersoda itu di tengah segala sesuatu yang bergerak; cepat atau lambat. Bayangan orang yang bergerak membuat merek minuman ternama itu terabaikan. Tak diperhatikan. Akan tetapi sebagai sebuah entitas kapitalis dia tetap saja mencuri perhatian. Tanpa kita memperhatikan pun sistem ini (diam-diam) memberangus. Bekerja seperti kanker mengerogoti kita dari jam ke jam, membuat semakin ketagihan atas kenikmatan semunya, seperti LSD. Kapitalisme global bekerja sampai ke titik terjauh dari pusat dimana ia diciptakan. Titik itu bagai selang yang menyedot kemakmuran dari negara-negara paria ke negara kaya, terus menerus, detik ke detik. Kita disedot sambil senyum kesenangan, seperti oral seks: korban yang berbahagia. Foto itu bisa jadi tidak berbicara sejauh itu. Akan tetapi godaan tanda: coca cola, kilatan orang bergerak, dan sepintas rerimbunan daun hijau menggiring saya ke arah itu: batu beton kapitalisme yang keras membatu ketika semua hancur seperti kerikil. Foto-foto Dolly berbicara tentang Tidakkah Agung Kurniawan artist's statement City is part of social, politic, economic, and culture integrities with complicated matters in it. The problem becomes my personal matters since I decided to stay in this town. Those are about relation, activities, mobility, icons, life style, and of course, interesting things to me, because the art project that I am working on is always related to my existence and bound to this town. This photography project entirely describes the growth of Frozen City When I was little, I imagined city as a cluster of cubes. One cube and the others are connected with flyover. Between the flyover and the cubes, there are hundreds of helicopters or planes come and go. I was imagining the future city for sure, and that childhood imagination 30 years ago still have not occurred until now. City is not a cluster of cubes; there are no flyovers that intercrossing and no helicopters replacing the cars. Is this city frozen? Dolly (Edwin Roseno, 29 years old) chose to title his solo exhibition at Kedai Kebun with It could be that this city is freeze but not being frozen. A city is just like living organism that always move and change. The thing that makes it different is just the speed of the changing itself. At some parts of This transformation happened very fast, maybe only in few years. Desolate area turns into crowded area. Otherwise, some parts still the same. Dolly's photo series about coca cola (Beyond Coca Cola, 2006) imply that. A pile of soda beverages placed in the middle of moving objects, fast or slow. The image of moving people made this famous soda beverages brand ignored. But then, as capitalist entity, it still stole the show. Even though we ignored it, this system muzzled (silently). It works as if cancer gnaws us from time to time, makes us addicted to its intangible pleasure, such as LSD (a kind of ecstasy). Global capitalism works until the farthest point from the place where it is made. That point as if a hose that suck the prosperity from the pariah countries to the rich countries, continuously, from time to time; it is sucked while they are smiling in happiness. It is like oral sex, a bliss victim. Those photos probably would not talk that far, but still, the temptation of the sign "coca cola", the flash of moving people, and at first blush of the green leaves, directed me to that point: the petrified concrete-stone capitalism when other system are shattered into gravels. Dolly's photos talk about city, with all of its face details. In the morning, in the afternoon, and at night, all are recorded. The city is frozen by light and recorded in a black box with aiming point. Is there anything else that we search from it? Is this city already tired enough for all of that? Agung Kurniawan
