PRESS RELEASE ANNIVERSARY SOLO EXHIBITION "BOBVARIUM" Bob Sick Yudhita Agung 26 May – 26 June 2010 Srisasanti Arthouse Jl. Kemang Raya No.81, Jakarta, Indonesia
This May, we - Srisasanti Syndicate presents the solo exhibition of an eccentric artist whose name is so and so talked - skyrocketed in the year 2007 with his naïve and provocative artworks. He is Bob Sick Yudhita Agung, Yogyakarta artist who claimed to dedicate himself and his life just for art, willing to stone himself with a variety of tattoos on his body, from the face up to his entire body. Bob Sick will feature approximately 15 paintings on the theme "Bobvarium" which is amazing and included into one of the most sophisticated presentation of our contemporary art this month. This exhibition will be reviewed by the author and Fery Oktanio and quotation from Kompas journalist's Ilham Khoiri who once wrote Bob Sick in the year 2008.
BOBVARIUM theme BOBVARIUM is a term taken from the name of BOB, and OVARY. BOB from Bob Sick Yudhita, and OVARY is one of the female reproductive organ which functions to produce ovum (eggs). Ovary is also the place where egg maturation occurs. The mature egg is released, and ready to meet with a sperm cell to produce a conception in the womb, thus the resulting pregnancies. BOBVARIUM then, is an analogy related to Bob Sick's creative process, that is, as a space of motivation, creation and incubation for Bob Sick in creating new works and new self-image, as a kind of rebirth (in accordance with the moments of Bob Sick's birthday), prepared carefully. BOBVARIUM, this term gives the masculine and feminine impression. This is created deliberately to give the impression of sexy on the new image of Bob Sick. No longer scary because of various tattoos in his body, but more fashionable, touchable, and no longer mysterious. Bob Sick, whose life story is easily accessible, but still mysterious in the meaning of his spontaneous works, where only Bob knows the story behind it.
Bob featuring DJ Milinka Radisic This solo exhibition is also to celebrate Bob Sick's birthday which coincides on May 26. Several things want to be achieved in this event, one of them is to raise the real image of Bob Sick, and also marked his first appearance with our institution, Srisasanti Syndicate. So, especially in the opening moment of his exhibition, we will sit him together with a Female DJ, that is, DJ Milinka Radisic. Milinka is an excellent DJ (Disc Jockey) who has international reputation. The art presentation of Milinka in the solo exhibition of Bob Sick, gives a strong accentuation of a figure of Bob Sick as an elegant, interactive and classy professional artist.
A little bit about Milinka; she is Indonesia-Serbia mixed blood, successed to builds an interesting accentuation for this profession, and achieve her reputation as one of Female DJ strength icon in Asia regions. Milinka changes the perspective of DJ profession, from a night world's work into a serious and quite promising career. She proves this by receiving numerous awards as a 'Best Female DJ', 'Best Breakthrough DJ' and nominated as 'Best Indonesian DJ' last year, which is the first time and the only time there is a female DJ nominee among male senior DJ in the top ten rank. Milinka will launch her second new album titled 'No Time for This!' and also prepare for her European tour which will begin July until September 2010.
